Overview:
Explore the fundamentals of stage make-up in this one-day Theatrical Character workshop, rooted in Kryolan’s long-standing heritage within theatre and live performance. For over 80 years, Kryolan has supplied professional make-up to productions across the West End and Broadway, shaping the techniques and standards still used on stage today.
Designed to introduce the specialised demands of theatrical work, this course focuses on creating impactful characters that read clearly under stage lighting and from a distance. You’ll learn essential character-building techniques including highlighting, shading and the use of professional materials such as waxes and latex pieces. The workshop also explores key considerations such as lighting, costume and wig integration, and working collaboratively with performers.
Ideal for make-up artists looking to expand into theatre or strengthen their character work, this workshop provides practical skills and professional insight to help you confidently step into the world of stage make-up.

Do I need to bring anything?
All products, tools and brushes are provided. For practical sessions, we recommend bringing a smartphone or camera to photograph your work.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon completion, you will receive an official Kryolan Certificate of Attendance. Please note this is not a formal make-up qualification.

Will a model be provided?
Models are not provided. For practical sessions, you may work on yourself or another attendee.

What if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as possible. Full details can be found in the cancellation policy sent with your booking confirmation.

Can I use my Pro Card discount?
Yes. Kryolan Pro Card holders receive 20% off full-priced workshops.
